My dear friends,

If you attended the 8th Lux Pacifica in Tokyo, thank you for joining us. I hope you made new friends in the lighting community there.

The date of the next Lux Pacifica will have to await the outcome of the COVID-19 virus effects. It is expected that it will still be held in St Petersburg in 2021. VNISI (The Russian Lighting Research Institute) and The Hermitage museum will kindly host the 9th Lux Pacifica.

The venue is the State Hermitage Museum (or simply “the Hermitage”), one of three greatest museums in the world, that houses more than 3 million works of art and the Russian imperial regalia. I am looking forward to meeting you again in the museum.

Specific details of the venue, the cost (USD$450), contact details and information about paper submissions can be found on this website: Lux Pacifica 2020

For students the cost is excellent value – USD250.

Note that there is also a cost for accompanying persons and that all participants should nominate whether they wish to attend the two special tours of the Hermitage on 21st and 22nd April. Spaces are limited so be quick!

As an additional drawcard, in April/May in St Petersburg, the Spring festival of classical music is staged.

The important dates, shown below are:
July 2019 — start of online registration
31st December, 2019 — The end of abstracts submission
1st December, 2019 — Notification of acceptance of abstracts to the Conference
15th February, 2020 — Closing conference registration
1st March, 2020 — The end of complete papers submission
20–22 April, 2020 — Conference

The Lux Pacifica conference will be held jointly with the Hermitage Museum’s lighting conference.

Best regards,
Motoharu Takao, Ph.D.
Chair, Lux Pacifica
